Ever since the Pakistan Earthquake, and before in fact, I've been inundated with people asking me why God is doing this to us.
I'm never really sure what to say. I'm a priest. But I'm still human and basically the same as everyone else. All of this does not affect MY faith in God.
Any believers out there have any views on this?
A natural disaster is what it tell's; "a natural disaster"... I don't now either, what to say...It's realy hard to see how the people is suffering in any natural disaster.
We don't now anything for tomorrow - but what ever I'm meeting, I will say the same as you; All of this does not affect MY faith in God.
I believe in a God that walks with me every day, where ever I am, or what ever I'm meeting. He is with me. (Psalms 23;4)
They say god moves in mysterious ways, guess they are right. It's always tragic when people die however that happens, alone or at the same time as hundreds , we all die.
A year back there was a disaster covered on tv and the same day someone I knew died seperately , yet it wasn't on the news, life carried on , it seemed small in comparison, it still mattered.
Big disasters bring people together maybe? I dont know, how can you know what the plan is?

being a calvinist and therefore believing in the total sovereignty of God then i know that God allows these things to happen. but i dont understand why, and its heartbreaking watching it on the news - makes us all feel so helpless i suppose. we live in a sin cursed fallen world and the bible teaches us that the judgement of God is a reality, it also teaches us that His ways are not our ways. i am just glad i am not in charge of the universe! and am thankful to be a sinner saved by grace.

God doesn't DO these things. He is not an assassin or mass killer. He does not arrange misery so he can console. He may have made the world, but he doesn't control it. God is about people. People are fragile, unpredictable & nasty - just like the world.
Do not forget that the world is also beautiful, bounteous & peaceful - just like people too!

well it's a difficult one really (for those who believe), as some would say this is an act of god indeed killing thousands. however if people survive then that is an act of god also. That may lead to suggest that God is actually that individual.
